Mary received her bachelor’s degree in Teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois. She began her professional career as a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing in pre-K and 1st Grade in Schaumburg. After two years of teaching, she transitioned to the Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA), where over a ten year period, she held several positions including Program Specialist, Inclusion Coordinator and Volunteer/Recruitment Coordinator. During that time, she also earned her Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA). Mary joined JourneyCare in April of 2016. Her new position as the coordinator in charge of recruiting and onboarding volunteers, combines her love of teaching with her passion for working with volunteers. Outside of work, Mary volunteers as a Sign Language Interpreter at her church and enjoys cooking and camping with her family and friends.
