JourneyCare is committed to being an educational and emotional resource to the communities we serve – even if our experts can’t be there in person due to COVID-19 precautions. To make sure we are keeping our promise, this year JourneyCare has launched special webinars to help all in our community cope with loss, plan for the future, and find reasons for hope. Below are two helpful talks you won’t want to miss.
Coping with Collective and Individual Loss
This year we all have experienced huge disruptions in our everyday lives — for some it has been loss of livelihood/economic stability, loss of confidence in institutions, and/or loss of the daily activities and interactions that bring us joy. At the same time, many have also lost a loved one. The enormous stresses of COVID-19 along with social and economic upheaval create multiple layers of loss and cause a level of grief in us all. Hear from Kimberly Hobson, JourneyCare President and CEO; Elise Magers, MDiv, LCPC, Assistant Director of the Replogle Center for Counseling and Wellbeing; and Megan Andriano, LPC, ATR Manager of Grief Support Services and Integrative Therapies at JourneyCare, as they explore collective and individual loss.
How Your Support Helps Our Pediatric Patients
Our pediatric care teams approach situations every day knowing their expertise and compassion are what our youngest patients and their families need. JourneyCare is the largest of only a handful of pediatric hospice and palliative care programs in Illinois. Caring for children with serious illness requires trained care teams and special support to address the complex needs of young patients and their families. Hear the moving stories of two mothers whose children were in the JourneyCare All About Kids pediatric program – Cathy McCann and Nicole Tyszkiewicz – and how the care they received made a world of difference.
