The JourneyCare Foundation is critical to serving patients and families. In collaboration with our generous supporters, the foundation team helps JourneyCare keep one of our most important promises: to never turn anyone away because of an inability to pay.
This summer, the agency welcomes new JourneyCare Foundation President Joseph Matty to lead that team.
In this role, Matty will lead the Foundation to continued success by building strong relationships with our supporters, leading fundraising events like our annual galas and Decades Dance, and shaping the Foundation’s annual appeal.
Matty served most recently as both Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Illinois University Alumni Association and Chief Operating Officer of the school’s foundation simultaneously. Additionally, he is an alumnus of the DeKalb school and has held various fundraising roles within the university for more than 14 years.
Matty also brings a background in healthcare, serving for six years in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant with training in dietetics and nutrition, as well as medical evacuations. He also held a post at Central DuPage Hospital where he focused on enhancing departmental efficiency.
With this mix of expertise in philanthropy and medical care, Matty says he understands the importance of maintaining strong relationships with JourneyCare supporters in order to ensure that everyone has access to quality end-of-life and supportive care.
“The philanthropists who so generously support JourneyCare are critical to bringing outstanding care to all who need it in the communities we serve,” Matty says. “Our foundation team looks forward to continuing these longstanding partnerships and discovering new avenues to create even better access to care.”
