Registration is open for JourneyCare’s annual Camp Courage, for youths ages 6-13 who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
Participants explore and express their feelings in a safe, supportive and fun environment, led by professional counselors and volunteers.
This year’s camp will return to the YMCA Camp Duncan in Ingleside, from July 10-14. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
“Camp gives children an opportunity to have fun, free of guilt or expectation, with other children who are experiencing similar grief. It’s also a really great time for kids to have fun and realize that, although someone they love has died, they can still smile and celebrate those people,” says JourneyCare Child Life Specialist Jennifer Mangers.
There is no cost to attend camp, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, community partners and families. All eligible campers are welcome, but please note that space is limited and bus service is not provided. Priority will be given to first-time campers.
If any child you know can benefit from Camp Courage, encourage their family to call 224-770-CARE or register online at journeycare.org/camp-courage-application-2017.
