In November, 2011, the Siman family of McHenry lost their family patriarch, Carlene Siman, to cancer. Her last weeks were spent with JourneyCare. To celebrate her memory and thank JourneyCare, the Siman family established the race, with the net proceeds benefiting JourneyCare.
The cost for the race is $30 and $35 the day of the race. Participants receive a long-sleeved race shirt, finish line photos, a chip that tracks the runner’s time and the chance to win post-race raffle prizes.
Last year, the Siman Family Foundation was able to donate more than $23,000 to JourneyCare, up from $17,000 the race’s inaugural year. The Siman family’s goal for this year’s race is $30,000.
