Many people have had some experience caring for a family member facing illness or frailty – a parent, a spouse or even a child. Family caregiving is under-appreciated and under-recognized for the important role it plays in the care of seriously ill and fragile patients. Caregivers deal with significant stress, demands on their time and abilities as well as social isolation and financial implications.
